Cultural Celebration 2018
The month of August this year ushered with it four major festivals - The Parsi New Year, Bakrid, Varamahalakshmi Vratham and Onam - in a row and saw us reveling in our ethnic, religious and cultural opulence. To celebrate and highlight our unity in diversity, a short programme was staged by our students on 21st August. It began with expressing our compassion and solidarity for the victims of ravaging floods in Kerala and Kodagu. As an auspicious beginning, Nithya Bharath of Grade 7 beautifully recited verses from Chapter 12 of the Bhagavad Gita. To celebrate the holy festival of Bakrid Hanim Omer from grade 12 read a few verses from the Holy Quran with the School Prefect Neha Sharon Jacob doing the translation. The programme was enriched by legends and stories behind each festival and their significance. A classical song in the Carnatic tradition, as a tribute to Goddess Laxmi with Mukundh Balajee on the vocals, Abhiram Nitin on the Mridangam and Pragati on the violin charmed the audience. It was indeed a harmonious blend of raga, taala and laya. A semi-classical dance performance by the students of Grade10 completed the wholesomeness of the experience.
