Book Week 2022

"Reading should not be presented to children as a chore, a duty. It should be offered as a gift."
– Kate DiCamillo

Books play a quintessential role in every student's life by introducing them to a world of imagination, providing knowledge of the outside world, improving their reading, writing and speaking skills as well as boosting memory and intelligence.

Grades 1-5 of National Public School, Koramangala participated in a plethora of activities during the Book Week from 16th to 19th August 2022. The students began each day during the week with a discussion on various comic strips and concluded it by immersing themselves in their favourite story book.

Students enjoyed story telling sessions with several guests speakers- Ms. Minati Kapur, Ms. Reena Puri, Ms. Krithika Nair and Ms. Ramya Sridhar. Grades 3-5 also had the opportunity to interact with Ms. Riddhi Maniar Doda, an author for children’s books.

Grade 1 children looked absolutely adorable dressed up as characters from books, while Grade 2 was treated to a Story Theatre session by the students of Grade 5. Grades 3 and 4 participated in Story Tray and Picture Collage activities respectively. The Treasure Hunt organized for Grade 5 by Grade 9 students of the Literary Club of the school was a huge hit.

The week concluded with Grade 5 students putting up a Class Assembly highlighting various genres and interesting facts about books. The soulful chanting of shlokas, the energetic dance performance and the mellifluous song ‘I love to read’ kept the audience enthralled and asking for more.

“There is no such thing as a child who hates to read; there are only children who have not found the right book.” –Frank Serafini
