Handing Over Ceremony 2026
The Handing Over Ceremony, a momentous occasion marking the transition of responsibilities from the Grade 12 leaders to their deputies, was celebrated on 31st January 2026.
The event began with a warm welcome to the Guest of Honour, Ms. Bhargavi Raman, founder of the Arts for Mental Health Initiative and an integrative therapist with specialised training in expressive arts therapy, somatic practices, and trauma-sensitive mindfulness. An esteemed NPS alumna from the Class of 2008, she was welcomed along with the Principal, Ms. Jyotsna Nair.
As the ceremonial lamp was lit, students of Grades 6–9 presented the Devi Saraswati Vandana, a devotional offering in praise of Goddess Saraswati set to Raag Desh. Ms. Raman fondly reminisced about her school days and shared valuable insights drawn from her life’s journey. She emphasised the importance of questioning the default, listening to one’s inner voice, and allowing oneself to make mistakes to define a life path that often unfolds gradually.
This was followed by the Principal presiding over the symbolic exchange of the school and House flags, formally marking the handing over of leadership. School Prefect Raahil Prakash delivered a heartfelt speech reflecting on the year’s accomplishments and expressed gratitude for the unwavering support that enabled his team to achieve their ambitious goals.
The highlight of the event was the announcement of the Best Outgoing Student award, presented to School Prefect Raahil Prakash for his exceptional leadership and all-round excellence. Certificates of Appreciation were conferred upon Student Council members, interschool competition winners, and students with perfect attendance.
Adding vibrancy to the ceremony, the Grade 9 VPA (Visual and Performing Arts) Club presented a captivating and skilfully coordinated classical Indian dance—an offering to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
The auditorium reverberated with thunderous applause as the Principal, Ms. Jyotsna Nair, awarded the Overall Inter-House Cultural Trophy to the jubilant Pioneers. Students of Grades 7–9 then performed Man in the Mirror by Michael Jackson, inspiring hope by encouraging all to pass on values such as honesty, kindness, and commitment, ensuring these principles continue to guide and uplift future generations.
The School Prefect and Best Outgoing Student, Raahil Prakash, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the institution for honouring him with the prestigious award.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Vice Prefect Sanjana Venkatakrishnan, followed by a touching gesture from students of Grades 9 and 11, who presented Best of Luck cards to students of Grades 10 and 12, wishing them success in their board examinations and future endeavours.
