Urja- Annual Sports Day (Senior)

Urja, the Annual Sports Day 2022, was celebrated virtually on 29th January, 2022. The Principal, Ms. Jyotsna Nair declared the sports meet open after her welcome address. An inspiring clip from the Tokyo Olympics set the tone for the event that highlighted the true spirit of sportsmanship. The events for Grades 6 to 8 rolled on after the Sport Captain, School Prefect, Vice Prefect along with House Captains and Vice Captains took the oath to play in the glory of sport and the honour of their teams. The participants’ strengths were tested as they stayed in the superman pose, wall sit, and high plank positions for as long as they could. Next was the yoga competition for middle and senior school, where the participants amazed the crowd with their flexibility. Following that, Grades 9 to 12 students displayed their stamina through pushups, incline pushups, skipping, squats and crunches. Then came the skill-based events where 9 to 12 graders wowed the audience with their proficiency at juggling football, playing table tennis and badminton wall practice. The song “Waving Flag” and a foot tapping dance number added charm to the event. Next, the results for the chess event and redemption were put on show. Redemption, a strategy-based game, had the contestants build a basketball team based on a given budget and the skill levels of the players. Messages by the sports teachers and speech by the vice-captain, Anvita Verma, motivated the students to put their best foot forward. Principal, Ms. Nair announced the much-anticipated results of the event. The Challengers emerged as the winners of the Sports trophy with the highest points.
